People, Prosperity and the Planet Award – Harnessing Youthful Creativity
Initiatives taken by the EPA to engage the youth of the nation to solve real world environmental challenges seem to be paying off really well. Like the Campus RainWorks Challenge, the EPA’s People, Prosperity and the Planet Award was given to teams hailing from campuses across the nation for coming up with innovative solutions to public health and environmental problems. Some of these included nontoxic, biodegradable surfactants from fruit peels, biological films to allow sand to absorb pollutants, low temperature combustion diesel engine among others.
